Thomas Wolski designer of the Nordorff & Robbins Northern Music Awards statue.

Well that was one of the most incredible nights of my life! To have created a piece of art (The Northen Music Awards Statue) that will be celebrated for years to come in such a way is insane. Melanie C, Lisa Stansfield, Louis Tomlinson, Tim Burgess of the Charlatans, The Courteeners and many more recipients.

So many compliments on the piece and to be asked to present one of the awards was such an honour. It was so lovely to be seen for the work I have created and enjoy it. But also to work with and celebrate such an amazing charity ‘Nordorff & Robbins’ who are the forefront of Music therapy here in the UK.

The brief was to create a legacy piece for them and something that strongly represents Northern Music and what Nordorff & Robbins do. Something gritty and considered that looks like it could have been around for 50

Years and stand up to the next 50. In regards to music therapy I moulded my hand in to the base for touch, then the main character a genderless figure representing all. A verdigris of guitar plectrums representing brain neurons fashioned like a Philip Treacy for style, substance and intrigue.

A special thank you to James McMillan for helping me navigate the past year, @gethincjones , @emmamorrismorrismorris , @drranj , @martybrucie and @helenskelton for all of your support and joining me in the festivities.
